This is the easiest and most convenient way to download the Material Library. You can access the library directly from the Asset Editor, which is the main interface for managing your assets in Vray 5 for Sketchup. To download from the Asset Editor, follow these steps:


  • Open Sketchup and launch Vray 5 for Sketchup.



  • Click on the Asset Editor icon on the toolbar or go to Extensions > V-Ray > Asset Editor.



  • In the Asset Editor, click on the Materials tab on the left panel.



  • Click on the Browse button at the top right corner of the panel.



  • A window will pop up with the Material Library categories. You can browse through them and see a preview of each material.



  • To download a material, simply click on it and wait for it to load. You will see a progress bar at the bottom of the window. You can also select multiple materials by holding Ctrl or Shift and clicking on them.

You can use the Chaos Cosmos Browser, which is an online service from Chaos Group that provides you with free 3D content such as models, materials, HDRIs, and more. To download from the Chaos Cosmos Browser, follow these steps:


  • Open Sketchup and launch Vray 5 for Sketchup.



  • Click on the Chaos Cosmos icon on the toolbar or go to Extensions > V-Ray > Chaos Cosmos.



  • A window will pop up with the Chaos Cosmos Browser. You can browse through different categories of content, such as Architecture, Furniture, Landscaping, etc.



  • To access the Material Library, click on the Materials category on the left panel.



  • You will see a list of materials that you can filter by subcategory, such as Bricks, Concrete, Fabrics, etc.



  • To download a material, simply drag and drop it into your scene or right-click on it and choose Add to Scene.

Option 3: Download from the official website




This is an alternative way to download the Material Library if you prefer to have it as a separate file. You can download it from the official website of Chaos Group, which is the developer of Vray 5 for Sketchup. To download from the official website, follow these steps:

  • Click on the Download button for V-Ray 5 Material Library for SketchUp (vrmateditor).



  • A zip file will be downloaded to your computer. Extract it to a folder of your choice.
